Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of nausea, vomiting or vertigo & motion sickness.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 50-100 mg every 6-8 hr. Childn 6-12 yr 25-50 mg every 6-8 hr not >150 mg in 24 hr, 2-6 yr Up to 25 mg every 6-8 hr not >75 mg in 24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Not to be used as local anaesth due to risk of local necrosis. Do not use in newborn or premature infant & nursing mother.
Special Precautions
Not to be used in the presence of asthma, glaucoma or prostate gland enlargement. Possible ototoxicity when used in conjunction w/ certain antibiotics. Avoid alcoholic beverages. May impair mental alertness required for the performance of potentially hazardous activities (eg, driving vehicle or operating machinery). Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness. Disturbed coordination, fatigue, restlessness, confusion, nervousness, blurred vision, tinnitus, tremor, irritability, epigastric distress, photosensitivity, dryness of mouth, nose & throat, excessive perspiration, drug rash & hypotension; haemolytic anaemia, agranulocytosis, headache, difficult urination & thickening of bronchial secretions.
Drug Interactions
May enhance sedative effects of CNS depressants. May enhance muscarinic effects w/ MAOIs. Additive antimuscarinic action w/ other antimuscarinic drugs (eg, atropine & TCAs).
